If you are more of a visual learner, feel free to watch this simple step by step video on setting up keywords.

What are Keywords?

A keyword is a word, phrase, or set of characters that lets people opt in to receive SMS messages.

Examples of Keywords:

  • Pizza

  • Subscribe

  • GoldenGym2

Set up a Keyword

  1. Click on the Opt-in tab on the left sidebar

2. Click the + New Keyword button in the top right

3. Choose a Keyword. Your keyword will be what customers send to your number to opt-in to receive texts from you. Keywords can be 3-20 characters. A good practice would be to try typing your Keyword into your phone to see if autocorrect tries to change it. If so, it may be best to change your Keyword to maximize opt-ins.

4. Next, select the number that customers will be texting the Keyword to

5. Then, type out your Auto-Confirmation message. This will be sent in response to anyone who texts the Keyword to your number. You can also add emojis or photos to the Auto-Confirmation message. Message frequency is how many texts your customers should expect to receive from your number per month. This is mentioned in the compliance message, and is mandatory by law.

6. Automatically Opt-in these contacts into Groups and Tags. By selecting any group from these dropdowns, everyone who opts-in to this keyword will be added to the selected groups & tags.

7. Lastly, set when your Keyword expires. If set to never, this Keyword will always be available to opt-in to. The second option is to have a Custom date - simply open the calendar and select a date for this Keyword to expire.
