What is Porting a Number?
If you have a number already and want to use it to send texts and use voice capability from Twilio, you need to port it to Twilio.
This process takes 2-4 weeks, so it's better to get this done as early as possible.
If you are already using your number for voice with a provider, and you do not want to fully transfer the number over to Twilio, you will need to host your number - you can learn how to do that here.
Note: Only numbers from the US & Canada can be ported to Twilio
What you need to port a number

Phone number(s) that you plan on porting
If it is a wireless number - the wireless account number
Pin or last 4 digits of SSN
